HAWAIʻI ISLAND ART ALLIANCE

Celebrating Arts & Culture on Hawaiʻi Island

Our Mission

Hawaiʻi Island Art Alliance (HIAA) is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to fostering a vibrant local art scene that engages our entire community. We achieve this through sponsoring diverse exhibitions, running inclusive community programs and events, hosting artist residencies, and creating pathways into the creative economy.

HIAA brings people together through art. The piko of our work is based at the historic Wailoa Art Center in Hilo, where we support efforts to make it active, welcoming, and alive with purpose, every month of the year.

Art is how we stay connected. When communities are activated, something shifts: people linger, talk story, bring their kids, meet artists, make art, and feel proud of being from and living on Hawai‘i Island.

Our
Approach

Exhibitions

2026 welcomes nine curated exhibitions – from the beloved Young at Art Keiki showcase to the annual Abstract Only exhibition. Every exhibit is free to attend and includes a public opening.

Youth & Community Programs

Art days, youth camps, murals, workshops, and more. We give keiki and the community a place to create, connect, belong, and lead; we invest in building that pipeline with every program and project we run.

Artist Opportunities & Support

If you’re an artist, we’d love to explore how HIAA can partner with and support you and connect you with the broader island community.

Ho‘ā means to ignite. Our community event series brings together art, conversation, food, music, and makers for ongoing gatherings at Wailoa Art Center and beyond.
